secondly.... since this site is off-grid with no AC-in available... the wifi will be powered off if the inverter is in standby mode. Will I be able to do this update for my remote client without going on-site myself to initiate the update and re-start inverter ? I am unclear on how I can do a remote update if their wifi modem is turned off when inverter is in standby and ACout to Loads is turned off.

Does the download of the update occur first, while inverter is running loads ? Does the inverter sequence thru upload and restart without local power for the modem? .... will it work if I do it during the day when PV power is available, or do I need to go out to the site with a dedicated power source for the modem during the update and restart ?

Hi community.

Can anybody help me with an issue I am having with my EG4 6000XP? It has been running smoothly since Feb 2015 coupled with a 51.2V 100Ah rack battery V4. Then I bought another battery of the same type. During the day, after the old batt was completely charged, I mounted the new one and started charging it. I didn't turn off the inverter to do that operation as it was the same everything. Then, after sun started going down I started getting inverter shutdowns and after a couple of seconds it starts again. Then I compared two batteries and realized that the can protocol was not the same. I adjusted the new battery and the same happened: checking the inverter log I see the error code is 18(internal communication fault). Then I went back to the old battery and after a while: boom! Again error 18. Can anybody tell what happened and then how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

I operate one 6000XP inverter and two EG4 280AH Indoor WallMount batteries at a very remote location that has no grid power or cell service available. I don't have satellite internet service (though I probably could). The inverter is running firmware version ccaa-190D0E, and I do not plan to update, because ccaa-190D0E works fine, most of the later updates don't affect my usage, and many 6000XP users have experienced problems with the later versions.

If and when I decide to parallel a second 6000XP with the first, I will either want to update the older inverter's firmware OR 'downdate' the new inverter's firmware to ccaa-190D0E. I have the EG4 mobile app on my smart phone and the 6000XP wi-fi dongle, and I understand the 6000XP firmware can changed with the mobile app and wi-fi dongle.

If I want to update the firmware, is is possible to:
1. download the newest firmware to my phone, when I am home and have a normal internet connection,
2. turn off the phone,
3. travel my remote site, and
4. update the 6000XP using the phone app and the firmware files stored on the phone?

If I want to downdate the firmware on the newer inverter , is it possible to:
1. copy the ccaa-190D0E files (which I have) to an appropriate folder on my phone,
2. turn off the phone,
3. travel my remote site, and
4. update the 6000XP using the phone app and the firmware files stored on the phone?

I am asking on behalf of myself and several members at DIYSolarForum.com. Thanks.
