My new 12k solar unit blows cold AC but no heat, I did the testing that was asked for and submitted it with an RMA request 3 weeks ago as requested without any response other than acknowledging the receipt of the request. I tried emailing customer service again asking for an update, still no response. Brand new unit, it's getting cold here and I am becoming frustrated.
This is the 3rd unit I installed in my home, the other 2 have been working great for over a year now and I am sad.
Anyone have any insight on RMA's or why the unit blows ac cold all the time? Thanks

Unit works great on AC, but will not pull DC. Switch on AC limiter and DC shuts off completely.

Just finished my install of a 12k hybrid system running on solar only but tested with AC as well. The app shows the system only pulls 120w max from solar and about 100w max from AC when I shut the solar off. Even in turbo mode with the cooling set to 61 degrees it just blows room temperature air and doesn't throw any error codes at all. Tried heating mode set to 90 degrees as well and it still just blows room temp. I leak tested all the connections while opening the valves on the outdoor unit and didn't have any bubbles. I also have a refrigerant sniffer handy from working on vehicle HVAC systems and it didn't detect anything at any of the joints in the system so I don't think it's a refrigerant problem. Anybody have any ideas or did I just get a lemon and I'll have to RMA it?

We are new to the forum and have been advised to check here for information, as we are working to install 4 x 24k Hybrid Mini splits, 24 REC panels and hardwired in a block building that requires the use of condensate pumps. These are not powered up yet, and have been looking to get information with little avail, regarding the signal cord "1,2,3"/power source to run a pump and an alarm source, if available, to shut down the unit if pump fails. Would anyone here have any experience on this topic?

One time when we had to rerun the solar panels wiring the unit came back with LP on the indoor unit. turn it off and on with remote solved the issue. assume since we unplugged the cables it caused that issue

now its been a month or two and the unit come on every morning like clock work with zero interaction from me. Now for the last two days it shows the LP on the inside unit and I have to turn it off and back on to get it going. This unit is in a storage place that it has to come on automatically when the sun comes out to keep the product from getting to hot.

any ideas on why its starting to turn completely off recently? thanks

I needed assistance getting the thing on the new network. so I called Signature solar and they had me delete the AC from the app then rediscover. That was successful, but ever since the unit is overshooting temperature set points and indicating much more current usage than previous. I'm saying in heat mode it will keep on heating and the same for cooling. Sig solar had no solution for me and told me to contact EG4 when i called them back on this issue. EG4 responded to my support form request by telling me to get in touch with Signature Solar. System is still on line supply, no panels yet. Attached photo shows over cooling situation. 75° set point and the unit still drawing considerable current where it previously would only draw 59 watts or so. Unit bought and installed last August.

I looked at a LOT of forums & videos before I purchased my EG4 24k mini-split. However, nowhere could I find a discussion on real life impact on my battery consumption and recharge times. Here I am going to try and just layout what happened and let the individual user determine what it means. I know what it means to me and my infrastructure and my future plans.

Setup:

100% off-grid. 20 x 375W solar panels in two strings, connected to an EG4 6000xp supporting a single 14.4KW EG4 indoor battery. The primary daytime loads are the well pump that pulls 1500-1700W and just added; the EG4 24k mini-split. The primary overnight load includes the mini-split and tree irrigation @ 1000W. You can see the complete setup here. north-central-texas-setup-just-about-to-turn-a-year-old

Lets start with a chart from the day BEFORE installation. January 14. A clear sky day in North Texas. 100% SOC at 1700 hrs on the 13th. Overnight the battery had worked its way down to roughly 92%. No watering.

720

Followed by the day of installation.

Installation completed around 1600 hrs and power to mini split was turned on. Consumption went to 1250W while it started cooling things down. After about an hour, consumption settled down to around 700W. As can be noted in the chart the draw on the battery was immediate and intense!

721

Of course this continued into the next morning as temps continued to slowly drop as the winter storm moved closer. The 700-800W consumption continued until the cutoff of 15% of SOC was reached around 0630 hrs. Recovery/Recharge began within an hour of the sun actually being above the horizon 0900 hrs.

722

For the next 3 days the thermostat did not rise! However the Mini-split maintained its settings (except when the battery died). I actually spent an entire workday inside because I had some wiring I needed to finish before the storm AND I had to do my day job to boot. Dangit!

723

Saturday, I went out and put some insulation in place to try and help myself. The wind was blowing into the front door so spent the day with the door closed and room comfy warm.

That night the storm showed up! At least the COLD front edge of it anyway. Consumption continued rise as the temps dropped as you would expect. It accelerated from 700-800W at 1700 hrs to 1600-1800w around midnight when temps hit 29 degrees. Shortly after midnight the battery gave it up for the night.

724
725

Recovery was quick on the 19th, but the temps were relentless. The battery was being hammered for 1400-1800W from around 1700 hrs. Around 2100 hrs the consumption was between 1600-2000W CONSTANTLY. Outside temp was about 21 degrees F. Battery gave it up at 0030 hours on the 20th.

726
727
728

This is Yesterdays metrics beginning after system recovery (SOC < 20). As you can see, even though the average high for the day was around 43F; the drastic drop after sunset tells me that if I intend to run this mini-split 24x7 I will certainly need to purchase at one more battery and probably two to be safe and allow for expanding irrigation.

734
732
733

All of these are numbers from the depths of winter but I expect the same sort of behavior with regards to the air conditioning side during our ruthless T

730

exas summers. I will do this again near the Summar Solstice-ish (june 20th) and add the finding to this page.

I hope someone finds this useful.
