Hello. I have installed an eg4 hybrid mini split with 4 dedicated 400 watt panels. I have also installed a separate system with 8 100 watt panels that connect to 4 renogy rego lifepo4 batteries. We had an rv tech with limited solar experience connect the 2 systems. The mini split is supposed to automatically kick over to the battery bank when the sun goes down. It does not do this. The mini split outside unit is wired to a dedicated 20 amp breaker and also another wire from the outside unit to the Victron multiplus inverter. We will be getting shore power soon. Can we just plug into shore power and have the mini split run off of shore power and bypass going to the battery bank? The goal would be for the solar panels to run the mini split during the day, then automatically switch to shore power to run the mini split in the evening. I'm wondering if the goal would happen by simply plugging in the 50 amp cord to the shore power. Thank you for any help. Devyn

Most of my issues seem to have been resolved after months of frustration and frequent work with tech support. The one remaining issue is that daily the feed watts from the solar panels creeps down after 12 noon to nearly zero and then goes back up by 1 pm. Sunny day, no shade, no cause found. Tech support can't figure it out.

Eric, So I was able to update the LCD screen from Version 22 to the current version of 25. Unfortunately it did not fix the issue of not receiving actual data from the inverter (See screen shots). When I tried to do a inverter reset from the LCD screen, it just sat at the current screen and never did an inverter reset. I also tried to manually update of the date in the Device info screen, Again no luck. Also note that this screen does not show the current inverter data. I have cycled power to the inverter where is was fully shut down and re-started it. Again, no luck. So at this point, I think there is no communication data getting from the inverter to the LCD screen or it possibly has an issue. I was going to try the LCD screen on a different inverter (18KPV), but there is no easy access to the cable going to the LCD screen in the 18KPV. At this point I think I need to send the LCD screen back and get it tested by EG4. Your thoughts?

24k Mini-Split has a heart-attack!

Of course I was out of town when it all went down. You can clearly see the point of failure from the charting of my indoor temps at my home and at the property pump-house (blue).

2716

The cause of the shutdown of the 6000xp was that it ran out of battery power. Three cloudy days in a row prevented recharging. 4 hours later when charging allowed the 6000xp to restart; everything came back on except the cool air (interior and exterior units came on, but the compressor never kicked in.

2723

I ran the usual test to determine if I had lost 240v from the inverter. I had not, the well pump was still running. I performed the hard reset; by turning off both units and then unplugging from the inverter, in order to break any lingering connections to fade and logic lockouts to reset. I let the unit set for an hour before plugging it back in and powering it back on. It was quickly very clear that the logic was working but there was no heartbeat from the compressor. (sorry, i tried making the video smaller, obviously failed)

Enter stage left; Ethan Kline Signature Solar Engineer; Support Ticket #194632
We quickly went through his troubleshooting list and checked off all of the to-do’s and what if’s in fairly quick order.

2719

There was a bit more back and forth:

2720

I did not have a working voltmeter and had to order a new one from Amazon (fluke 17B) and it was going to take a couple of days. However Ethan stepped up and continued to move the troubleshooting forward.

2721

I don’t know about you, but I don’t often get escalation without a lot of BS, however, Ethan prevailed.

2722

Thank you Ethan for the professional & personal Customer Service you provided. I would also like to thank all of the folks at Signature Solar who have demonstrated their commitment to Customer Service during the 3 years I have been doing business with them.

Can I switch it in and out of parallel mode from my end? I’d like to live with non-parallel for a few days and see if it suits me better - and also a good way to check/verify individual string performance and get a good baseline on new/clean panels.
