I like the idea of solar direct to HVAC, which EG4 has with their heat pump mini split. But I would like a ducted unit for my house.
I wonder if others want the same, if EG4 will comment on how they are adding it, or have found it elsewhere in the marketplace.
I have heard of using a mini split outdoor condenser and then using a ducted normal air handler in the house.
That would be cool. Are you thinking it would be something for homes that have there HVAC located in the house or garage already or for units that are mounted on the roof?
my large house has a central ducted (forced air) “packaged unit” which burns propane for heat and grid electricity for summer A/C. I have two of them, actually, and they are over 30 years old.
The heat exchanger cracked on one and the motherboard went out on the other.
I could replace with all electric heat pump package units, which are expensive and not incredibly efficient, or with ducted splits which combine the outdoor Condenser fan unit with an indoor (crawl space for me) Air Handler than connects to my ducting.
I’d love it if EG4 would offer a hybrid DC/AC solution, either as package unit or the split with air handler.
I hate the visual of these mini splits hanging off every wall in the house.
I have unlimited space for solar panels.
