To be more specific they will not allow the GridBOSS to control export power because it lacks UL 1741 PCS. GridBOSS appears to be UL1741 but NOT UL 1741 PCS They will allow export control from the GridFlex 21 because it has 1741 PCS.
My house has 2 200 amp breaker boxes to support the 400 amps of service connected to it. Its a larger new house with 3 large heat pumps each requiring 44 amps at 240 volts.
For each breaker box, I have purchased a GridBOSS, two FlexBOSS 21s and six 14.3K batteries. Potentially this takes me way over the 40k allowed for export. I proposed using one GridBOSS exporting 20K and the other 19K for a total of 39. They agree this works, what they will not allow is the GridBoss to control the export without the UL 1741 PCS certification.
They want me to set export controls on the GridFlex 21s which not only limits power to the grid, but also power to my house! Worse they want a meter between the FlexBOSS 21s and the GridBoss to make sure we do not exceed the 20KW for the two FlexBOSSes.
I frankly do not have the technical skills to know if the utility is being reasonable or just avoiding net metering.
Without a solution, I have a complete EG4 system that can no export excess power to the grid.
In my current position, I think I need to skip net metering if or until 1741 PCS is available.
