Hi All,

Apologies if this question has been answered in previous posts. I'm new here, and this is how I plan to use my EG4 18kpv hybrid inverter. The order of operations will be: use PV directly, then Battery, then Grid. Is it possible to configure the inverter to switch to grid once my battery bank capacity reaches 60%? Is there a feature like controlling when to switch to the grid when the battery capacity reaches a certain percentage?

Yes again,

There exists a set of common use-case scenarios (order of operations).

For each of  case there exists a few parameters (such as battery state of charge to switch from battery to grid) and a bunch of other settings.

The difficulty is  determining what settings  need to be set what value to achieve a particular desired scenario.

Also the reverse operation, given a set of settings, what scenario has been instantiated?

For now, it's keep careful notes, save settings web pages (the [Export PDF] button in the web monitoring site and ask questions here. ( https://monitor.eg4electronics.com/WManage/web/maintain/remoteSet12K)

Then, experiment to see which settings stimulate which behaviors.

It seems possible for a paper scenario map to be developed that goes both ways.

Since all the settings can be read via software it also seem possible for there to exist software that could read all the settings and output a narrative describing the expected behavior, And software to input a narrative of desired behavior and output the necessary settings.

ChatEG4 is in development (but only inside my head) .

@george-redinger Thanks your response and thanks for the ChatEG4 ...lol. I almost think they use have a way to simulate different scenario and see what the outcome will be

@fatanu

I attach here an older version of the 18Kpv manual which includes a section for all the inverter settings. They seem to have removed that section, and the wiring diagrams, from the latest online manual.

Perhaps look at the setting “On-Grid Discharge Cut-Off”, as well as all the settings under the charge and discharge sections.

Are you going to be using your Seplos batteries in closed loop communication? You’ll need to decide whether to use SOC or voltage control based on that answer.

@jared

fatanu is using AC coupling with an existing PV system. He probably needs help to make sure all of his settings will be correct for what he’s trying to do. FYI, I’ve been helping him in another forum with his wiring installation of the 18Kpv. I don’t have any experience with the PV side of what he’s trying to do.
