Parts of my system have been installed of over a year and half. Due to the contractor quitting the solar business my system has never been running. Not knowing anything, I'm trying to educate myself and finish things myself. I just recently had my meter swapped and approved to run bidirectional from my power company. I don't know what I have on my roof other than it is 21 solar panels. I do know that I have an EG4 18kPV inverter installed in my garage. I also have EG4 lifepower4 V1 batteries in a rack but no connections to the inverter. When I turned on the switch on the side of the inverter to my surprise, after a while I was producing power from the solar panels. So much so that it was showing enough to run my load and send back to the power company. I had to install the wifi dongle myself and get it registered. Then I decided to upgrade to the latest firmware which is now fAAB-2021. I have no idea what it was originally but the equipment is from October of 2023 so I know it was older. I did this at night when there was no solar power. In the morning I noticed PV1 and PV2 still show about 280V but 0 watts. I thought maybe there was an issue with the older lcd firmware so I updated it from 1/7 to 18/1/1. I have not changed any setting but now I'm confused why there is no longer wattage on PV1 and PV2. I looked in data history and today it only says PV Charge while yesterday it says PV Charge + Grid on in the status column but I have no idea what that means. If anyone has an idea what to look into, it would be greatly appreciated.
It turns out the original version of firmware would allow the PV to work even if I have a batt comm failure. To resolve the issue, I used the advanced setting to say there was no battery and it is working now
