Starlink DC-DC Adapter direct to Indoor Battery

Wondering if anyone has thoughts on using the Starlink Gen3 DC-DC Adapter wired directly to a 280Ah Indoor Battery pack?

I have 2 Indoor batteries and a 6000XP ... I direct wired the DC-DC Adapter to the 2nd battery (1st battery is connected to inverter).

I was running the Starlink Gen 2 via AC ... when I switched to the Gen3 DC I didn't notice much in terms of power consumption.  So then I switched the Gen3 to the AC adapter and looked at some data from the Data History.

To be honest, all 3 setups seem to pull about the same amount of power.  I took averages starting at midnight up until the PV kicked in ... pretty close for comparison purposes.  Below are the results ... the Starlink AC is on L1N.

My thoughts are that I expected the DC setup to perform 'better' but that doesn't seem to be the case.  It mostly seems like the idle consumption for the battery / inverter plus my minimal power draw hangs around 2.7Amps and that is enough power being generated to offset the Starlink AC draw (~40-50 watts) ... I think if the Starlink had a higher power draw  ... like leaving the heater on all this time ... then DC might be better?

Also, on a nice sunny day ... after the batteries are charged ... the solar would feed the load directly (not charge batteries) so in this case it would seem the AC setup would work better ... as the DC setup would pull from the battery and then the solar would have to both service the load and charge the battery.

This is at our off-grid cabin and I looked at the data points from when we weren't there and the power draw would be consistent at night ... the Starlink, battery charger for generator and vampire electronics would be the only power draw.  Was hoping Starlink DC would pull less power since I leave things on when we aren't at the cabin (minimal).

From what I see, it doesn't seem to be worth the $110 for the DC-DC adapter for these types of setups.

Picture of my setup below ... I have cleaned up the wiring since the photo.  Battery going to 600Amp busbars and then I have a 30A fused connection feeding over to the Starlink DC-DC adapter (black wire going straight up).  Also ran a 48v to 24v DC-DC converter to run some LED corn lights and plan on getting a 24v DC freezer soon.

I did ask S2 support about this ... they said it wouldn't be supported (which is understandable) but really no reason that things couldn't be directly tied to the battery other than the inverter.  

Interested to hear anyone's thoughts on this 🙂
