When the grid goes down, will the EG4 12kPV be able to power loads and charge batteries from an AC coupled source connected to the generator input?

There is a worrisome sentence in the AC coupling guide (AC-Coupling-Guide-18kPV-12kPV.pdf) which makes me wonder if this won't work, "Off-Grid Mode: Like peak shaving, off-grid mode will prevent AC coupling from working. They are mutually exclusive functions."

My intended use would be grid tied most of the time with our existing micro-inverter (IQ6/IQ7) solar connected to the generator input of the EG4 12kPV, in self consumption mode. But if the grid went down for an extended period, I would want the AC coupled solar able to power loads and recharge the battery. Can anyone with an AC coupled setup verify that this works (or doesn't work)?

If it does work, what happens when the batteries get full and the loads are consuming less power than the solar is providing? Does the EG4 12kPV disconnect the AC coupled solar temporarily until the batteries have discharged somewhat?

Thanks,
David
