I am a long time customer, having had a stack of Lifepower4 V1 batteries running for a couple of years now.  I bought a pair of Lifepower4 V2 batteries to test before buying a full stack of 16 batteries (80 KWh is the legal limit here in California) for a new deployment.

I have been unable to get the V2 batteries to talk to me on their BAT-COM ports no matter what I do.  I have tried pins 1&2 as well as 7&8.  I have tried 9600 baud and 19200 baud.  I have tried various protocols.

I can talk to the RS485 port no problem using BMS-Tools V1 or using Solar Assistant running the MODBUS protocol.

But I cannot get the BAT-COM ports to work at all in any way.

Can you please tell me how the BAT-COM ports are supposed to work, ideally to talk to my V1 batteries?  I have updated my V2 batteries to Z02T05.  I have updated my V1 batteries to Multipack.

I need to know if the V2 batteries are supposed to talk RS485 on their BAT-COM ports?  If so, at what baud rate, on which pins, and talking what protocol for battery to battery communications?

Thanks!

I had the same problems and more when adding V2's to my V1's. V2's will have to be on first in the rack to communicate properly. You will also most likely need to clip a few wires in your communication cable between where the V1's and V2's connect. If you bought from SS I would call Tec support. It was definitely a process finding the right protocol and DIP switch setting to get everything communicating correctly.
