I have a newly installed system. 100% DIY. GridBoss and FlexBoss21. It is Grid Tied but currently operating in Off-Grid Mode. It seems that if Off Grid mode is not disabled, I still seem to export a small amount of power to the Grid. I don't have an agreement with my power company and am told by Signature Solar that the only way to avoid this export is to set it to Off Grid mode. (Even though "Grid Sell Back" and "Fast Zero Export" are disabled and enabled respectively. Very Frustrating and should be highlighted so that customers know what they are getting.
My issue: At certain times (I have not yet discovered the trigger, but is some combination of load vs battery SOC or transferring to/from the Grid) the power drops for a couple of seconds. It immediately restores and there is no entry in the Event Log. When this occurs, and I am able o look at the monitor app, it seems a transfer has just occurred to or from the grid. However, at other times, I absolutely know a transfer just occurred and there might have been a slight flicker of a light or something but is hardly noticeable. I know of certain exact times the event occurs and I look at the monitor app and data history but am not able to identify anything specific. Possibly because I am not exactly certain what I am looking for. I would expect a transfer to/from the grid should be the same experience every time. Is my expectation too high? When I am able to quickly look for the event, it seems the load was somewhere in the neighborhood of 5,000 Watts.
This does not seem to happen when the sun is bright and lots of PV coming in. Thus my belief that it is load/SOC/transfer related.
What should the experience be during a transfer? Should I ever expect power to drop for several seconds with no event in the log?
I only have a single All Weather WallMount battery 280Ah. I have plans to purchase a second as soon as I can. My concern is that is a lot of money to spend if it doesn't fix the problem. I know there are other benefits of a second battery so no need to explain those. Only if you are certain this is my issue.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in Advance,
Bobby
