I updated the firmware on a brand new off grid 12000XP.

My flow:

1) Turn on inverter
2) Mostly seems to be working
3) Get dongle setup, good also working
4) Can't find gen boost setting, despite manual, decide I need firmware update
5) Update firmware via website
...
6) Inverter restarts, house/wifi router lose power
7) Inverter is now in Standby mode, can't use battery -> AC or charge from generator. 120v Generator on does initiate Bypass mode.
8) *Dongle seems to be unable to connect to the internet*
9) App / Website report the inverter as offline

Only hope so far is that I can do the 'locally connect' option while on the dongle's wifi network, but not sure if any of those changes are useful.

I've tried various restarting combinations of turning on / off generator and inverter and it stays in standby mode. The dongle still wont reconnect to the internet, I read because it doesn't work in standby mode?

Hopefully I can find some solutions.

In the end, I called EG4, and we fixed the problem by switching from the Android phone (which didn't show the download firmware option for 12000XP) to an iPhone which DID show 12000XP in the firmware drop down, then using the iPhone's bluetooth local connect to update the firmware to the latest 0405.

Attached is the screenshot of the Android app. The app was just downloaded yesterday, and I checked for an update today as well, so not sure why it's either broken or out of sync. Could be something like the dropdown menu has a bug.

I'll forward the screenshot of the app to EG4 to fix.

I am in the same situation.  How have EG4 not pulled this update...

We are off-grid, well below freezing temperatures.  Currently running generator so in bypass mode.

I did update from website. How can I fix this?

12000XP is in Standby state 🙁
  1. Turn off EPS, turn off inverter
  2. Turn on the generator. Optional that I do or my lines would freeze
  3. Turn on inverter and EPS

12000XP is in bypass state and atleast keeping my lines from freezing.
  1. Find an iOS device, install app
    1. @EG4 STILL have not updated the Android app to include firmware for 12000XP
    2. We had to borrow an iOS device as we are all Android
  2. Connect to Dongle WIFI (not home wifi) in my case DJ4XXXXXXX
  3. Open EG4 Monitor App (may need to restart it)
    1. you have no internet so it should be back at the main page
  4. Select "DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE"
  5. Change WIFI Network to something with Internet Access
  6. Return to app and select 12000XP
    1. This should list some files that will be downloaded
    2. If not, change to a different inverter in the dropdown list and then change again to 12000XP
  7. Select the 12000XP and click DOWNLOAD. Wait for download to complete
  8. Change WIFI Network back to Dongle WIFI (not home wifi) in my case DJ4XXXXXXX
  9. In the App select "CONNECT DEVICE AND UPDATE"

Here what happens now:
  1. Files are uploaded to inverter. App says "Successful" (misleading!!!)
  2. Inverter will disconnect power (EPS) and begin updating
    1. you can watch progress on the inverter LED (not in App)
  3. Inverter will restart after update is complete

After about 30 seconds EPS should be restored and you will be powering loads in non-bypass mode.
In my case, I then stopped the generator, switched back to "Auto". After about 30 seconds the inverter called the generator via 2-wire (COM2/NO2) and started charging the batteries as well as powering loads.
