I want to build a battery backup for my critical circuits and then later add solar to make it off grid. 3 questions.

If I have a load connected to a 3000EHV-48 and use my own DIY set of 3 x 48v 100ah batteries in parallel with the grid power added,

Will my load run using grid power then switch to batteries when grid is lost or is it running off batteries till they are low then switch to grid while the batteries charge?

The 3000EHV requires a minimum of 120VDC solar input to use solar at all for charging and for the inverter. That means a minimum of 10 panels in series correct?

When I finally add solar, the load will run with solar and then batteries and then grid? I am not clear on the order.

  1. It can work both ways, it depends on how you want it set up.
  2. This depends on the panels you are going to use. Some panels produce more voltage than others. Check The VOC of the panels you are using.
  3. This depends on how you want it to run. I am providing a screenshot and a link to the 3000EHV manual that explains the different ways it can operate.
