I just had a 6000xp installed and none of the settings were changed by the installer.  I figured out how to change the ac charge setting but it won't charge my battery's or power the load really.  I have enough solar panels that I shouldn't have an issue with voltage.  I'm a framer not a sparky so my understanding of this is limited and the electricians I work with don't mess with solar.  Any advice is helpful.

Would you be able to provide a bit more information?

What is/are you loads?

What batteries do you have and how many?

What solar panels do you have and how many and if you know how are they wired together?

Pictures would be awesome too.

Nameplates on the solar panels, batteries, and a pic of the wiring connections in the inverter if possible.

Make sure everything is powered down before opening anything up.  🙂

I'm not sure what you mean by loads.  The terminology to me means something else.  I'm trying to learn as much as I can so I appreciate the explanation.

How many amps are you trying to draw.

Everything looks set up correctly as far as I can tell from the pics.

When you say AC charging do you mean from the generator or from grid?

I ask because the pics show a gen and also show that your grid breaker is off, so I am assuming that you men charging from gen?

@joel-brodeur I just trying to get the solar to do anything.  I have no grid connection so there is the generator for ac charge mode, and the pv solar isn't doing anything.  My batteries reach the 15% shut off after a day no matter the sun or draw from the load.

Silly question but I have to ask.  On the right side of the invert there is a big red rocker switch.  What position is that in.  Could you post a pic?

@daddydoug33 can we please get a pic of your yellow and red PV switch on the right side?

Oh, forgot to mention that you might want to check page 52 of the manual, setting #19.   Probably #18 as well.

Good Luck.

@daddydoug33

If you press the up or down button repeatedly you should be able to get the PV 2 to change to PV 1.  Would you be able to do that and take a pic showing what is happening on PV 1 as well?  As you push the Up or down button you will also see the display in that area go from power to volts.  That would be the best indicator to see which MPPT your panels are on.  Even on a cloudy day you would most likely be getting some voltage.

The default on that should have been 30 (I think). May I ask what you changed it to?

I would recommend checking if the PV input is cross polarized by measuring the voltage at the MPPT terminals. If the connections are cross polarized, the 6000XP will activate its reverse polarity protection mode, preventing the use of the MPPT.

  • Recommended Common Settings:
image
  • Application Settings:
Set the EPS voltage to 120/240 for split-phase operation with an EPS frequency of 60 Hz.

  • Charge Settings:
Configure these based on the battery's spec sheet multiplied by the number of batteries in series.

    image
  • Discharge Settings:
Use the listed specifications for the battery, multiplied by the number of batteries in series.

    image

Lastly, do you have the generator settings configured?
