Has your system recently failed inspection? If so, is our support team already assisting you to resolve this?

Hi there,

Not to hijack this thread, but I have purchased the 6000xp and the 48 Volt Lifepower LL and am not very happy that so far installers I have contacted won't touch my install due to the ESS -ESA requirements in Ontario.  The fact the "the ESS system" being the 6000xp inverter and the Lifepower battery have not been tested as an ESS to UL 9540 standards *(not sure why this hasn't been done by EG4) This means that solar installers have to meet the stringent requirements of the ESA in Ontario.  They're working hard to do that and its costing them extra as well. What I am learning is that it really lies with the ESA inspector as to whether it meets the standard to receive the correct approval tag.  The changes to the ESA requirements etc don't make this an easy process either.

That said, does anyone know anyone having success with the installations in Ontario of EG4 ESS equipment that doesn't have it's UL 9540? I'd be really happy to speak to someone with some experience with this, in a positive light.

With the latest changes to the regulations, if I want power to a remote cabin (off grid) , I will need to build an additional ESS building to the requirements of both the manufacturer installation instructions as well as the ESA's requirements. Both of which are completely vague.  The cost of an inspection of the uncertified ESS is around $1200.00 in Ontario and if the inspection is found deficient, there are return visits and these cost additional funds due to the testing requirements of the system.

I'm also quite confused by the fact that we should keep these batteries from humidity, heat and cold temps, and by placing them in their own shed, I'm sure they'll degrade faster as I can't control much of this when it is not temp regulated like the main structure.  This secondary structure is for the sake of safety due to the open concept of my camp building.  And due to EG4 not providing a cert for the EG4 6000xp with the LifepowerLL battery.

Any help from EG4 with UL9540 testing stickers for my combination of equipment or if anyone could provide me with a contact in Ontario with successful EG4 installs would be appreciated.

ESS (energy storage system)

ESA (Electrical Safety Authority) Ontario Canada

UL9540 (a testing safety standard required in Ontario, also elsewhere in the world but required in Ontario)
