I am looking for recommendations on the best way to connect my solar system. My home has two 200 amp panels in the basement, with each being fed from the meter outside. I plan on installing one Grid Boss next to the meter base and use one of the 200 amp feeds. Should I move the circuits that I want backed up to this panel and move non-backed up to the other panel, or is there a better way to set this up? In my last system, I installed a critical loads panel and moved what I wanted on solar to that panel. Thanks in advance.

The cleanest approach is to treat the Grid Boss the same way you would a backup/critical-loads panel. Pick the 200 A panel you’ll route through it, then move only the backed-up circuits into that panel and leave non-backed-up circuits on the other. That keeps your backup loads isolated, avoids overloading the inverter during outages, and keeps wiring simple. A separate critical-loads panel also works, but since you already have two mains, using one as the backed-up panel is usually the easiest.
