Does anyone know the size and thread pitch of the feet on the eg4 wall mount battery? I'm aiming to put casters on the bottom instead of the feet but don't have access to my batteries at the moment.
color/colour me shocked that no one had this... including anyone from EG4 or SignatureSolar... anyway, looks like it's a Metric thread: M12 x 1.75
(12mm diameter thread with 1.75 thread pitch (aka Standard, not fine)
@twistedroutes We apologize for the delayed response. Thank you for sharing this!
@twistedroutes and @eric, this seems like a REALLY BAD IDEA! Those batteries are 300lbs. I would expect EG4 would take a more cautious stance on users proposing bad ideas.
BobAndRoslyn, Thanks for your concern and input. I must admit my first gut response was that I'm not sure adding yet another "nanny warning" is needed (not intended to be offensive, seriously!). I would however say that if you are concerned, then don't do it. Such warnings amongst people that are already playing with electricity, shouldn't really be needed. "Don't touch fire...hot".
That said...
For anyone that has had to move these things as I have on multiple occasions, it's not for anyone "of weak constitution" haha, they are indeed heavy and that should be relatively obvious. There is no more "tipping" hazard on wheels than on feet (and someone is going to disagree, and you can!), and note that I'd recommend LEVELLING CASTERS because when at rest, they are on FEET but can be ratcheted onto their wheels to move.
In my use so far, I am using a levelling caster (not on wheels when at rest) with a rating well in excess of the 300lbs PER caster similar to this Example Levelling Caster at Amazon
@bobandroslyn I was not supporting the idea. Of course, it is not recommended to remove the feet or switch them for casters. However, I'm sure there are other people who would find this information about the thread size helpful.
