Why My Lifepower4 V1 Batts Were Not Communicating With My LL V2 Batts & 18Kpv

I have been struggling to no end to get my LP4 V1 batts to be seen by my 18Kpv. Numerous FW updates on both the LL's & LP4's were all failures. Then I thought of one thing: verify the protocol setting on the master LL battery. In a previous FW version, the CAN Protocol setting was P07-LUX. HOWEVER, on the last FW update the option for LUX is P06. Selecting P06-LUX option made the LP4's visible.

Simple, but not so obvious solution.

It may be helpful to others to include my actual FW versions and settings:

Download the EG4 Multipack Communication firmware. Though this is located under the LifePower4 V1 battery, it includes MULTIPACK FW for the LL versions. The actual FW version is not included in the file names of the firmware files, but they have descriptive names for your particular battery model. The Multipack FW only applies to the RS485.

The LL RS232 FW version is S02T24.

The 18Kpv battery settings are:

  • Battery Type – 2:Lithium;
  • Lithium Brand – 0:Lithium_0

Again, after updating your firmware, confirm the master battery protocol setting is set to P06-LUX.

You’ll need to install the multipack firmware on all the batteries and ensure the LL batteries are positioned on top of the battery rack, as shown in the image. Also, make sure the DIP switches on the LL batteries are set to 1–6, and the DIP switches on the Lifepower4 batteries are set to 6–12.

I did, I must have misunderstood. Were you able to get them working together?
