I have a 12000XP with a wall mount EG4 battery. This is a remote unattended off grid setup using AC coupled solar. Due to bad weather, the battery was low enough to shut off the load including the internet so remote intervention was not possible. The system never recovered so I assume that the 12000XP used all of its reserve power trying to start up the AC coupled solar, but never got enough juice due to the solar panels being covered with snow.

A couple of questions.

1- I have a small portable 120V generator. What is the procedure to get this unit back up and operational.
2- Once it is up and operational, how can I determine if the inverter tried to restart the AC coupled solar before it ran out of juice?
3- how often does the inverter try to restart the AC coupled solar?

Thanks for your help,
Mike

@cnmmike

Once the battery reaches the Discharge Cut-off voltage/percentage, the inverter stops actively discharging the battery and goes into standby, waiting for solar to become available. However, even in standby the inverter continues to draw a small amount of power from the battery.

If the Discharge Cut-off is set too low, the battery will deplete in standby, causing the inverter to shut down completely. When this happens, the inverter will not be able to restart or allow PV or AC-coupled sources to come back online.

@eg4eric  I was able to visit the remote system. Unfortunately I only had enough time to bring the battery up to  SAOC of 20%. The inverter was still not calling for the AC couple array to start up. At what SOC will the inverter allow the AC couple array to come online?
