I'll be adding a 10kw Westinghouse with "SmartStart" Generator to an off-grid eg-12000xp system today... Wanted ask the Forum if there are specific settings, or considerations, to prevent any problems in setting up auto-start and charging with Gen when needed.

In the Maintenance>Gen Function area, I am planning on setting:

Gen Boost = enable

Gen charge type = by voltage

Charge Start = 50v

Charge End = 55v

Max Gen Power = 6000w

Gen charge batt current max = 100a

and.... Maintenance>Smart Load Port

SmartLoad = disable

AC-couple = disable

...anything else required/suggested ? Anyone have experience setting up a Westinghouse "smartswitch" to the 12000xp dry contacts for auto-start and auto-off after hitting Charge End ?

Settings look good! I don't see anything that will cause any problems.

@eg4eric great, thanks.

 If I want to test and manually fire up to generator before the voltage drops to 50v.... what is the best way to force the inverter to accept charge ?

If I start a charge manually, will the 12000xp turn off the generator automatically at end charge if "smartswitch" is wired up to dry contact terminals ?

@dtbaker61 You can increase the voltage setting so the inverter will begin charging the batteries. If you start the generator manually but the battery voltage isn’t within the charge-start range, it likely won’t charge. I haven’t tested this specific scenario myself, but I can definitely ask.

@eg4eric In the EG4 monitor phone app... there is a yellow button "Start quick Charge". I don't see any "i" help on screen, and no detailed explanation in App documention. What, exactly, does that "start", and what parameters does it look at ?

@dtbaker61

Sorry for the late response! It will make the inverter charge the batteries for an hour using Grid.
