I just purchased a EG4 6000XP and the EG4 Indoor Wall Mount 14.3 kWh battery.

I believe I know the answers to these questions, but I wanted to double check:

1. Will the inverter automatically switch to battery power if the grid goes down?

2. Does the inverter automatically maintain battery charge while the grid is up?

3. If you had the choice of mounting this system inside your home (74 degrees year round) or in the garage (where summer temps will push the system's operating limits), where would you mount it?

Thanks!

The easy answers to 1 and 2 are - yes - if the settings are correct.

For 3 - I would highly suggest trying to keep the system withing the operating limits and avoid pushing them to the limits.

Just my 2 cents.

Welcome to the world of EG4 - fair warning, it can become an addiction.  🙂

1. Yes, as long as battery or solar are available and is enough to power loads. Also, can depend on your settings.

2. Depends on your settings. since the inverter is an off-grid inverter, it prioritizes battery and solar before using grid unless configured otherwise.

3. Inside would be better, but you could install in the garage, depending how hot it gets at your location.

My 18kPV inverter is too noisy to install indoors.   I am not familiar with the noise level of a 6k unit, but for mine I am REALLY glad I have it out in a shed instead.  Other answers are for my 18kPV system:  1-yes.  2 - depends on mode settings.  In self-consumption mode it runs it down.  In AC Charge mode you can set how and WHEN the inverter charges from grid.  In PV Charge Priority mode you can set it to give PV power to battery first before supply your house/cabin.
