You can forget about preventing it; you live in Texas fool!  You know, in the DESERT!!   right?  😱

I have an XP6000 that is sitting in the middle of four acres of mostly treeless property (which i am trying to rectify).

It is housed in a 10x16 foot shed in Parker County TX.  As you can imagine it gets pretty windy in the middle of nowhere.  I took the usual precautions of putting rubber door seal stripping on the doors, no windows and a vent fan (now covered, soon to be removed).  As one would expect there is a fair amount of dust on everything.  Not outside on the ground amounts of dirt, but settled red Texas dirt, the usual "stuff".  From time to time I fire up the shop vac and the air compressor and get busy.    I recently noticed a very find dust on every surface (almost like talcum powder).  I finally figured out that although the heavy dust did not make it much past the door or the table saw, the super fine stuff was everywhere, in everything, all the time.

So this brings me to my question (finally).  How rugged is this thing (we are about to fine out)?  What is the best way to clean the inverter and how often?  Should i just power everything off remove the covers and give it the air & vac treatment?  OR put the fixup money in a piggy bank toward a 12000xp and go with the flow until failure?

I already run the shop vac over the filters once a week or so but that is not going to get the fine dust off of the components that will cause heat build-up and eventually component failure (esp. on a high humidity day).  I have a 24K mini-split i installed to help control the temp and humidity and I am completely sealing the doorway with hanging freezer walk-in strips which will stop the wind driven air infiltration.  I have also installed a high-end small particulate filter.

We'll see how this goes.  Any suggestions would be a big help (even stories about your failures will help).

Thanks All!
