Can the Eg4 12K be connected to a Sunrun Inverter or would it be a replacement for it. I saw a comment saying the AC line from the solar inverter ties to the generator port of EG4. Does that mean it cannot accommodate a back gas generator?

Eg4 inverters were only made to work together with the same inverter model. You can AC couple an existing grid tied system into the 12kPV; AC coupling allows the user to add onto an existing grid tied solar system.
I don't know much about the Sunrun inverter so I cannot confirm if this configuration will work with this inverter.
