I think EG4 has won me over but I am yet to pull the trigger on getting into solar. However, I live in South Mississippi and see an entry that could entice me further, even though I am NOT sure it could be done. As a resident in the Hot and Humid, air you wear, community the Mini-split seems to be a good investment. My only issue is the HVAC system only seems to tie up a number of panels and Never adds to whole system if you expand later. Is it possible to have a solar power pass-through? When condition (A) is met the Mini-split turns on and pulls the adequate amount of power (else) all extra passes on to a:
1- inverter
2- Charge controller
3- Battery -- not sure that is possible w/o 2 or 1
Or is it possible to have a Charge controller that has the appropriate pass throughs to either feed the Battery if not feeding the HVAC?
This logically makes sense for an entry to solar system that allows for expansion and further integration. Also this idea Hardens a home that could receive hurricanes and knock out power and MORE importantly HVAC (Katrina high 80s low 90s at night and NO POWER 2 weeks). Thoughts?
Great questions! Yes, you can absolutely set up a system where the inverter prioritizes powering your loads — like a mini-split — and then uses any excess solar energy to charge your batteries.
In this type of setup:
The inverter will first use solar power to run your home loads (including the mini-split if it’s running).
Any leftover solar after the loads are covered can be configured to go towards charging the batteries.
This gives you a flexible system that works well for entry-level solar and leaves room to grow.
Let me know if this helped or if I misunderstood your questions.
Let's see if this makes more sense.
Let's see if this section can change. Max PV Power Utilized: 1125 Watts Max recommended PV Array Size = to a single leg of the FlexBoss 18 MAX Then allow any More PV to pass on to a Inverter LATER ALOMOST MAKING THE HVAC ONLY DC
Then develop a way to purge the 1125 Watts if More is available and when the HVAC is not running more power moves on to anything else and Inverter, Charge Controller, Battery when any of those are added after the initial HVAC is installed and ran for let's say a year.
