I installed my solar power system one year ago (Aug 25, 2023) and expanded my battery storage to 60kWh from 30kWh one year later.   This is my current setup:

19.2 kW Solar Power - 48 440W Aptos bifacial panels (ground mounted)

EG4 18kPV Inverter

61.4 kWh Battery Storage - 12 EG4 LL batteries

Raspberry Pi 4 computer that provides wireless connection to Solar Assistant

@herque  Well I just updated the battery storage by adding six more EG4 LL batteries to total 60kWh.  Other than that I had to go through updating all of the batteries to Multipack firmware which was a bit of a challenge but I got that finished and out of the way.  As far as other expectations or regrets, no, I do not really have any.   I typically had about six blackouts per year where I am and although the blackouts were only an hour or two in duration they were always inconvenient.  I now have a very reliable constant flow of electricity at hand.   I am now close to being. 100% free from having to rely on the grid.  I still have to use the grid as I did yesterday, it rained all day and I received about one third of the power that I normally do.  So I used a little over 10kWh overnight from the grid.  All of the excess power that I now sell back to the grid will more than make up for weak days like yesterday.  The overall power generated will provide me with a calculated $500 to $700 per year from the electric coop to my pocket.  So I am very pleased with the upgrade and the entire system.  Now that I am coasting it is back to my day to day routine of checking in on the performance during the day just to see what is going on and how much power is being generated.  Now instead of having to pay $500 per month on electricity I now save that amount and actually get money back by selling it back to the grid.  I am a mini-electric generating plant.

@stxsolar that is awesome!! I installed a smaller system in Aug 2024. I am not on a grid tie system. Here are a couple pics of what I have. I am wondering if I made the wrong choice with the batteries. But for the most part I am extremely happy with this set up.

I am running 2 3 ton ac units on this set up along with 20 445w ureco panels. Unfortunately I only have east west exposure for the roof top but this is performing well above my expectations.

@herque You will notice (if you haven't already) that having a solar power system is fulfilling and addicting.  You will want to continue building on the system that you have and the nice thing is that you can do so at your own pace.  If your batteries work and you are happy with the system, all is good.  Nice setup.

@herque Do you have any trouble keeping your batteries balanced?
