I am extremely dissatisfied with my EG4 experience, from the product quality to the customer service. I initially purchased the system from Signature Solar. My wife ordered two indoor batteries along with the GridBoss and FlexBoss. It took about two months to receive the products. After mounting the batteries on the wall, it took an additional two months to find someone willing to install them. Unfortunately, the "certified EG4" installer did a poor job.
The inverter was installed crooked because there was no support at the back, which is causing it to pull on the conduit box. The installation was not grounded properly, and the backup panel was pushed too far forward, resulting in a one-inch gap in the breaker cover. Additionally, the wires entering the top of the panel are in contact with steel. If those wires short-circuit, anyone who touches the panel could be seriously injured due to the lack of grounding.
The batteries also slouch forward because the brackets are unable to support their weight, which further adds to the instability. After addressing these issues, I reached out to three different people at Signature Solar, but none could offer assistance. One technician even hung up on me. The app is very glitchy, and despite having fully charged batteries, my home continues to run off the grid. In hindsight, I regret not investing the extra money in a Tesla system for a cleaner installation and better service.
At this point, I’m hoping someone at EG4 can actually help me address these issues. Everywhere I’ve looked, all I get is "that's just the way it is," and I’m left without any real solutions.
From reading your post, I get that the installation is the main issue and not the equipment. I have had the equipment on my system for almost a full year now and have had great production and support. Even when I do dumb stuff the support staff has bailed me out every time.
For some reason I cannot see the pics you posted. But I would take the issue to the installation crew and hold the accountable for a professional install.
I can't see your photos either. I didn't know EG4 had a "certified installer" program, but I would definately go back to that installer and have them correct the issues. All systems must be able to pass an eletrical inspection, and your system would not.
Sorry you had problems. Looks like your installer is your main problem. I deal with different companies Tec support all the time and have never dealt with any as good as SS. Like mentioned on other threads EG4 would do themselves a big favor by writing comprehensive manuals on all their products.
My system is slightly different (18kPV inverter), but I have the same wall mount batteries. I chose to install them on the wall close to the concrete floor, and then extended the feet down to take most of the weight off of the wall brackets. That worked Very Well for me - no issues with mounting whatsoever.
I am betting that your system problems (always on grid) is because of the settings on your inverter, and not a battery problem. You may well need to learn about system modes and configuration. My experience with SigSolar support staff has been stellar, so very different from yours, so I would recommend you try again !
