12kPV + two 14.3 Indoor WallMount 280AH

I am cycling the batteries once a day 100->20->100.

The Technical Specifications page for those WM Batteries says to charge them between 60 - 140A "Charging Current"

https://eg4electronics.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/EG4%C2%AE-Indoor-280Ah-Battery-Specifications-Sheet.pdf

Can someone please guide me why going below 60A would be detrimental?

I have been charging them over 6h:45min at a rate of 4kWh [C/.14]

To maintain that rate the inverter has been delivering between 73A - 74A but since that is for two Wallmount batteries the effective rate is only ~37A to each battery.

I am concerned that I may be doing something incorrectly since the spec sheet specifically outlines 60 - 140A Charging Current for those WallMount batteries.

I am discharging the batteries over 3 hours @ ~156A. Effectively 78A to each battery and inside the 60 - 140A recommendation for Discharge Current Rate.

Appreciate your insights and guidance,

I don’t believe charging with lower amperage than the recommended will damage the batteries. The main things would be slower charging and a potential for the battery cells to become imbalanced over time. Other than that, there shouldn’t be any major issues.

Thanks, I infer that charging below 60A could cause imbalance? Is there docs that can offer some more visibility?

I was considering going slower (many research papers suggest a C/.1 rate) but maybe the BMS for theses batteries act oddly at that rate.

This is based on my research, but I’ll reach out to our battery technician to get a definitive answer.

I checked with our technician, and they confirmed that charging below 60A will not cause any battery cell imbalance.

@eg4eric Thank you for checking it!

So I presume there isn't a reason that the battery specs have a lower limit for charging Amps?
