OK, I am well aware this is not recommended.  However, I have a client with (1) 24V V2 LL battery and (3) 24V lifepower4 batteries.  The client, on their own, bought a 12000XP to replace their smoking trace SW4024.  My thought is that, if I were to put these in series, I would need to rewire the second battery of each string to skip the BMS entirely.  I will also need to limit the charging to that of the first BMS.

Is this just a plain bad idea?  Better ideas? Will the BMS freak out?

Opinions, consternation and views are welcome.  Thanks.

As you mentioned, this configuration is not recommended as these batteries were not made to work together in series. To ensure system stability and avoid potential issues—both immediate and long-term—it’s best to avoid connecting them in this manner. The best option would be to purchase 48V batteries.

I would not connect them in series for a 48v system, I would look for an inverter that can

work as 24VDC, either single phase or split phase, whichever is most important to you.

Or buy new batteries and use your old stuff for less important things.

I have a similar question. I have 4 EG4 Lifepower , 24v 200ah batteries I bought from you guys with the intention of putting together a battery rack when I could afford a good inverter for home backup. My plan was to save up for a Sol-ark, but When I saw the specs on the the EG4 18kpv inverter I purchased it. Now that I'm ready to but the rack together, I read now that I can't use the 24 v Lifepower batteries in series to work with your 48v inverter, so that sort of submarines the entire plan.

Does EG4 sell or recommend an inverter that is compatible with those 24v Lifepower batteries, or are they just expensive paperweights at this point?
