This past Sunday I updated my 12kPV from FAAB-2021 to FAAB-2525. Prior to the firmware upgrade the inverter was properly running in Off-Grid mode with a grid connection that it would switch over to if the loads couldn't be powered using PV removed link Since upgrading to FAAB-2525 it is no longer functioning in off-grid mode despite the setting in the 'Maintenance' tab for 'Off-Grid Mode' being set to 'Enable'.

The graphic on the 'Monitor' tab now indicates that PV power is going to power all loads for both the sub-panel connected to the load terminals and the main electrical panel connected to the grid terminals. I've caught it at times indicated it was exporting power rather than sending surplus power to the batteries. The batteries have not charged from PV since the firmware upgrade, however I can have it perform a quick charge.

I've reached out to EG4 support using the form on the website (Monday at around 9:30AM), as well as called technical support. I haven't heard back via email, and when I call technical support I wait until getting sent to voicemail, where I've left a single voicemail with my information for a call back.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what to do about the 12kPV not functioning in Off-Grid mode? I've already restarted the inverter, as well as toggled the Off-Grid mode to Disable, and then back to Enable. I've also clicked the 'Reset' button next to 'All to Default', then double checked that Off-Grid mode was still set to 'Enable'. Nothing seems to change its behavior.

I doubt that it matters, however the screen and dongle are also both up to date.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

It doesn't appear that I can update my post, so I'll provide an update as a comment.

I still have not heard from EG4 technical support. I went ahead and moved forward with some troubleshooting of my own today since the inverter was still exporting power, thus not running in Off-Grid mode, despite Off-Grid mode being set to enable.

  • I did a full power down, powered it back up, same behavior.
  • After powering up from the full power down I went to the bottom of the 'Maintenance' interface on the Device Monitor website and selected 'Reset'. After doing this the dongle went offline for ~30 seconds, and when it came back online the inverter was seemingly functioning in Off-Grid mode. After going into Maintenance and reconfiguring the 'On-Grid Cut-Off SOC(%)' and 'Off-Grid Cut-Off SOC(%) limits to 80% and 25%, the inverter stopped functioning in Off-Grid mode and went back to exporting power.

I've reproduced the second bullet point above twice now. I'm now on the third time of resetting the settings today, but I'm not adjusting the cut-off values this time. So far the inverter has remained running in Off-Grid mode. This leads me to believing there's something buggy around at least the setting of the cut-off values, possibly adjusting any settings, when Off-Grid mode is enabled with a grid connection present.

I also have a 12Kpv inverter that I recently updated and maybe I have the same issue I don't use off grid in winter as my solar production isn't enough. I have had it drop from peak shave and there was nothing I could do to get back off the grid, including trying to enable off-grid mode . It said it "control successful" but wasn't .

Side note , I would like an off-grid mode schedule like peak shaving as an option. Peak shaving for me still bleeds back and forth with grid. I pull from grid and dump some to grid even with "fast zero export" enabled and "grid sell back" disabled.
