So I am a happy owner of an EG4 3000EHV-48. It is connected to 15kWh of battery. I have this set up as a sub system within the house to make sure key things stay on. (Freezer, Fridge, internet, wifi). It has 3500 watts of panels connected to it, and I also have the unit plugged into an outlet so the batteries stay charged when there is no PV input.

This thing does a great job of that, in fact here within the last hour, power was out for about two hours.

We have experienced outages before, and as I said, I'm happy with the unit. Anything that will save groceries and keep the internet on makes me happy indeed.

The wifi dongle was a bit sketchy to set up initially, but has been fine since I installed the unit back in May.

Here is my issue........ Why would the dongle quit when the grid power is down? The unit is getting power, either from solar or battery.

When the grid power comes back, so does the dongle connection. It'd be nice to look at the app on my phone to see how everything is doing when the grid power is out, instead of going down to the basement.

The way it is now, if the grid is down, the app sees the unit, but gives zero information about what the input/output, batt status is.

Did I miss a setting somewhere? I'm sure it's probably something simple.

We can look into this for you. Because this is a second party app, we don't have all the information regarding the app and the dongle.

Interesting. A product that can make the EG4 not work to it's potential? Seems an odd selling point. I don't believe that the dongle hardware is the true issue, but yet the app solution itself.

Are there any ethernet solutions to be had? I wonder if someone has gotten the EG4 unit to communicate with something local, like a Raspberry pi, spare PC or arduino type solution?

Off to search. If I find anything I will try and post up for others
