I have a solar system based on the EG4 6.5kW Off-Grid Inverter | 6500EX-48. At present, the system incorporates three EG4-LifePower4V1 batteries. I want to increase the storage, but the EG4-LifePower4V1 batteries have been discontinued in favor of the EG4-LifePower4 V2.
Inverter
(1) V2 batteries appear to be compatible with the 6500EX-48 inverter, but the 6500EX-48 is listed on EG4’s website as a “legacy product” for which no documentation is provided. Please confirm that V2 batteries are compatible with the 6500EX-48 inverter.
(2) Does the 6500EX-48 require a firmware update? If so, please confirm that this is the correct download: 6500EX 48 – FIRMWARE
Batteries
(3) The Connections Overview and Paralleling Guide indicates that original LifePower4 and new LifePower4V2 batteries can be paralleled. Please confirm that original and V2 batteries can be paralleled in the same system.
(4) Please confirm that, if original and V2 batteries are paralleled, a V2 battery must be the “host” or “master” battery.
(5) Please confirm that the original battery interconnect cables (RS485 Battery Communication Cable | SKU:1503006) will still work with the mix of original and V2 batteries.
(6) The Paralleling Guide indicates that original batteries require a firmware update to be paralleled with V2 batteries, but the EG4 website does not appear to have a download available. Please advise where the update software may be found.
