There is too much conflicting info on the web on whether to earth ground or not. I am going to earth-ground my Array but need advice. I have the EG4 3000EHV 48 with 2 EG4-LL's V1 48v batteries and 9x390w solar panels. I have not connected this system to my house panel. It is hooked up to solar, batteries and a 12 awg, 20amp powerstrip for the AC OUT. I run everything on the powerstrip (small lab/office) a window ac, Large printers, side by side fridge (works great). I had to add the plug for the AC In to plug into the house plug socket as I was getting shocked and the videos for the grounding screw did not work for me. So I took out the strew again and just plugged into the house socket, which worked.
Anyways,
I have added another battery the new EG4 LLS and the enclosed battery rack which I have not hooked up yet, I need to make a longer battery cable to connect to my older batteries, EG4 needs to do something about this to help their loyal customers. Adding a cable to hook up to the older batteries or selling it with the instructions to update both batteries to communicate.
Grounding Questions:
1. I have 2 EG4 Ground Mounts (Brightmount). Do I have a ground rod for each mount (4 panels each) or can I stick a ground rod in the middle of both of them and hook up both to one ground rod? Ground rod in between 8 panels (2 ground mounts) 4 panels on each side of the rod.
2. Professionals on Youtube (including university profs) state to only hook up the earth ground to the main house ground rod, and others are stating not to, just ground by the solar panels to the earth. Which do I do???????
Remember this system is only hooked up to array (with a Solar Disconnect), batteries and AC OUT Powerstrip. AC IN is plugged into the house socket and system is not hooked up to fusebox house panel.
Appreciate the help, I want to be safe and keep my system safe 🙂
