In case you missed it, here's a link to an interview I had with James Showalter, EG4 Founder and Owner, and Markus Jackson, Director of Product Management, as we talked all about the EG4 GridBOSS and FlexBOSS21!

Thank you for the invite and to everyone who joined Adam De Lay's livestream on the GridBOSS and FlexBOSS21!

We saw a few unanswered questions in the comments during the stream, so our support technician, Eric, reviewed them and provided detailed responses.

I have read every thread I can find on the Grid & Flex Boss's as well as Googled & watched every YT video I can find including the 2 interviews with James. I've not found the answers to the following questions yet.

Can the FlexBoss21 handle BOTH (2-3) PowerPros (outdoor) AND 6 LifePower4's (V1's) at the same time? Without the GridBoss?

Next, do you need the GridBoss to accomplish this? Do you still need 2 inverters (one for each type of batteries) to accomplish handling 2 different batteries? Even with the GridBoss?

Can they be different inverters
I.E. With an 18kPV AND a FlexBoss21? Or do I need 2- 18kPV's?

For reference, I am completely off-grid. I have an unused 18kPV (V1), 54-390W CS bifacial panelss, 6-LifePower4's (V1... currently hooked to 6500EX & 14 panels) & have an unopened PowerPro (outdoor) that I planned to add 2 more.

This is possible, but it’s important to parallel them to an external bus, ensuring the Ah capacity of each bank is closely matched. For example, you would use 1 Wallmount for every 3 Lifepower4 V1 server rack batteries. However, since these two cannot communicate directly through their BMS, you would need to operate them in open-loop mode if they are part of the same system. I would also note that since the aH capacity does not match 1 for 1, additional maintenance of cell balancing would occur.

This video has additional information with mixing inverters with the GridBOSS.

UL listed and local or national electric code requirements?

I'm looking to install this in a new house build and wondering if this is UL listed (I suspect it is) but more importantly what are people finding about outisde service disconnect switches being required between the meter and the GridBoss?

How does the GridBOSS handle the generator input? Does it detect the voltage on the gen input and cut off the grid power? (to replicate a hard lockout of the service panel?)
