I was just informed that we are working on a firmware to fix this generator cool down issue. As soon as the firmware is available, I will let everyone know.

Thank you for your patience and understanding!

thank you Eric! You didn’t mention the initial switch to generator, will this be included in the update?

@wardo5757 Do you mean an adjustable warmup time?  That would be VERY nice as well.  My generator would be much happier.  🙂

Sometimes the easiest solution is the best solution.
Sometimes not.

Mine too!  I have a 10kw Generac, the charge power needs to be set to 3kw in order to have a smooth switch from battery to generator. The inverter needs to either stage the generator input or ramp it up, but it can’t go from idle to 80-90%, no generator likes that switch. But there’s no way to mitigate the gen to batt switch

I can only hope that:
1. This firmware update will be added to Android for the 12000XP (Still not there at time of writing)
2. This firmware doesn't expect grid power like the last one did, causing 12000XP to go into standby and require me to find an ios device to perform upgrade locally....

Please test for those without the grid!!!

@twistedroutes

no grid and Android?

You’re missing out on 2 of the greatest things today…. lol

I think that firmware wasn’t just hanging up on android, same thing happened to both of my 12000xp’s, I loaded them from a Mac..  If fact, it was until 405 came out and SS had to force install it in order to get my firmware back on track.  I think it was an issue with that firmware.

Yes, I did also mention the switching to generator. However, I believe most reports have been when switching back to battery. As soon as I hear the firmware is available, I will let everyone know.

A new firmware update is now available for the 6000XP. As soon as an update is released for the 12000XP, we will notify everyone.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding!

@eric Any update Eric?  Or should we accept that these inverters should not be used with generators of any kind?

Maybe my thinking is incorrect and let me know, but these inverters are actually UPS's and can either inverter (DC to AC) or convert (AC to DC), but not do both functions at one time. Hence the problems. EG4 sells a ChargeVerter for a reason as it is a standalone rectifier/Converter. No switching issues, can auto start and charge on Voltage or SOC solving the cell balancing issues. I put a xfer switch in and can charge from either gen or grid. I think my old outback hybrid system had independent converters and inverters.
