Maybe my thinking is incorrect and let me know, but these inverters are actually UPS's and can either inverter (DC to AC) or convert (AC to DC), but not do both functions at one time. Hence the problems. EG4 sells a ChargeVerter for a reason as it is a standalone rectifier/Converter. No switching issues, can auto start and charge on Voltage or SOC solving the cell balancing issues. I put a xfer switch in and can charge from either gen or grid. I think my old outback hybrid system had independent converters and inverters.
@ron I agree that the chargeverter would fix the issue. I highly doubt that the reason they sell it is because the inverters they advertise as "generator switching" doesn't do that job well at all, in fact it's very harmful to all equipment involved.
It's simply a software issue, there is no problem or limitation with the inverters hardware. If a dumb automatic transfer switch can make a seamless switch so can these inverters, all EG4 needs to do is mimic the action of an auto Xfer switch.
I would have to buy at least 2 of those chargeverters to use the capability of my generator, if the switching is handled the same as the inverters than my generator will have a problem with it also.
All up to you. No switching with the CV as it charges the batteries directly while the inverter powers the loads. Rectifiers can be purchased in any size, but 2 CV's would give you redundancy.
@wardo5757 I don't remember if I asked for this already, but are you able to provide me with your inverter's serial number or station name please? We would like to look at additional data for us to figure out the best way to resolve this issue.
@Eric Ni- I was never asked for this information, I have 2- the main is 43730P0061- slave is 43730P0201. Does this mean that there is no firmware fix coming or in the works?
@Ron I get it Ron, and well aware of the functionality, I'm also aware of the what these inverters should and could do. I have at my disposal 2 250amp chargers that are capable of seamless switching if the software is correct, buying 2 chargeverters is a downgrade to the equipment I already own. I would much rather work with EG4 to correct the problem and make it great for everyone instead of throwing more equipment at my system.

Eric- were you able to determine anything on my system?
@wardo5757 I haven’t identified anything, but our team is conducting a more in-depth review of all the data.
@eric How is the inverter (DC to AC) converting AC (Grid, Gen) to charge the DC battery?
@eric Probably a dumb question, but since inverters invert DC to AC, how is this inverter converting AC to DC when it is powered from the grid or generator. Does the inverter have a rectifier?
@joel-brodeur Hey Joel, just checking in to see if the issue with gen switching has been solved on the 6000XP?
@wardo5757 no sir on my 18k still have brownouts when switching. Just put in a 6000 and some batteries on a new project. I will hopefully have panels up in a few weeks and see if I have the same problem with it. I’ll post the new project in a bit
@wardo5757 I have not been able to check it out since the last firmware.
I need to run a down up cycle one of these and see what happens. Just hard to do when I am finally making some decent solar. 🙂
Sometimes the easiest solution is the best solution.
Sometimes not.
