I had an EG4 12000XP installed at my house on October 13,2025.
I had the 12000XP programmed for time of day charging, between 12:30AM and 8:00AM EDT. It had been working until the evening of October 21, when I noticed that the charge time was starting at 11:30PM, instead of 12:30AM. I examined the 12000XP Station Configuration, and noticed that the time zone had been set for GMT-4 and Daylight savings time was set to Yes. I changed the time zone to GMT-5 and left the Daylight savings time set to Yes. This change was made shortly after 12:00AM on 10 removed link
At about 6:00AM I noticed that the inverter had not switched to the charging mode. When I inspected the graph, I noticed that the inverter appeared to oscillate, with the charging rapidly switching on and off, between about 12:30AM and 1:00AM. Then the inverter stopped charging, and the battery depleted down to the 15% cutoff. Then the inverter switched to grid power, where it remained the rest of the night. At about 7:00AM, I clicked on the "Start Quick Charge" button on the EG4 Monitor, and the inverter began charging. I called David Kline, and he suggested that I try scheduling a timed charge during the day, to verify that it would work. I programmed a couple of timed charge schedules for the afternoon, and they seemed to work OK.
I think that the 12000XP failed to switch to charging mode, because I had changed the time zone after midnight. What I am concerned about is the apparent unstable oscillation that occurred between 12:30AM and 1:00AM. The battery SOC seemed to jump up and down rapidly, indicating that the inverter may have been switching a large charging current on and off. I have attached a screen capture of the EG4 Monitor Input & Output Power graph that shows the anomaly. The picture includes two graphs, one showing the full day, and the second showing the morning up until about 7:00AM.
I just updated the time settings to turn off Daylight Savings Time. Again, I noticed an apparent instability in the 12000XP input/output graphs. Am I doing something wrong when I change the time settings? Do the time settings have to be done in a specific order?
Thank you,
I got help from signaturesolar.com support. Worth a call.
When the time on the inverter is adjusted or changed, it may cause some unusual readings. However, this is nothing to worry about unless it continues happening every day.
Hi Eric,
Thank you for your explanation. So far, that's been the only anomaly with my new 12000XP, and it's nice to know that I don't have to be concerned about it.
