The guys at SS wanted me to do the latest firmware update on my 18kpv. After 10-15 times trying the update it stops at 53% every time. Now my generator turns on when it’s called for but doesn’t shut off. Mine isn’t connected to the internet so the only way to update is through the app. Is EG4 working on this? SS Tec support says they are aware of the problem from other customers. Thanks

Not an answer but just curiosity, when you do the local connect through the app, are you using the wi-fi or the BT?  Have you tried the other?

Also, probably not the issue but have you tried an alternate device?  Maybe an Ipad or a tablet if you have access to one?

I know it bites when you don't have Inernet, I know when I updated my 6000XP, it would not accomplish through the app and at the time I did not internet.  I ended up having to kludge together a hot spot on my phone and jury rig around it that way.

Don't know if any of that will help or not but maybe.

@joel-brodeur I’ve tried multiple devices. SS guys say it’s an EG4 problem. Thanks

Looked a lunch and I had a EG4 app update on my phone. Updated the app and all the firmware updates went through to my 18k finally. Firmware didn’t get stuck at 53% like it had been. Not sure if they ment for the app update to fix that problem but it did. Kinda jacked my display up on the 18k. All watts displayed on the screen now have to be multiplied by 10. Here’s a pic.

Yay that the app update worked for getting the firmware update loaded.  But weird about the Watts.  😱

@joel-brodeur I know I can’t win for loosing. I’ll make the 18k call for the generator tomorrow and see if it kills it when battery voltage is reached like it used too. 🤞

@pawnee

Did you update the LCD version too? If not, I think that's the cause of the watts display problem.

@pawnee Have you looked at this thread?  Supposedly the LCD update is included in the zip package:

@pawnee Not certain if it is the same issue but it appears that some similar things have happened to other user:

What I get from the post is that the update "succeeded" but maybe not.

I know you are offline with your system but perhaps reach out to your vendor and see if they can walk you through a reinstall?

For the LCD update you will need a Flash drive. You will need to have access to a computer and download the firmware and transfer it to the Flash drive. Before you do this, read the instructions on the guide provided down below to avoid any issues.
