Ok I've installed both the latest rs485 and rs232 firmware on all 6 batteries.
Keep in mind that I did this process a month or so ago and didn't see any different results. Hoping this is the ticket! Will let you know if it fixes it.
I've noticed the time is different on the two new inverters I bought. Would that have any effect on things?

The time could affect it if you have certain settings based on the times.
@eg4eric - Thanks for helping out. I haven't seen any failures in a few weeks.
That being said, I don't really know what fixed it. I think I may have confused myself a bit during troubleshooting. 🙁
Either way, if anyone else runs into similar issues, make sure to:
- Update firmware to latest for rs485 and rs232 for all batteries.
- Update firmware for inverters
- Ensure you have the #1 battery connected to the #1 inverter
- Ensure the inverter is set up to expect HINAESS for the battery type (if using eg4 wallmount batteries)
all is well that ends well i guess.

I had the issue pop up again. This time I power cycled all inverters and batteries. will update if it fails agin
@eg4eric - It was running solid for a couple months. Then on june 4 it did the same thing. lost battery communications for a brief moment, inverter decides to swapover to grid+charging because it sees 0% battery.
it will eventually fix swap back over, but i cant quite determine how it makes that decision. I ended up just manually power cycling everything. Its been running stable since june 4.

How low do your batteries discharge on a daily basis?
just occurred while charging batteries from grid. Same thing tho. batteries lose communication briefly, then it takes exactly 10 minutes to go back to regular operation. Very frustrating.
I should note i have a very early version of the 12000xp... before the v2's came out.
I have reoccurring issues of 280Ah indoor batteries BMS loosing the comms with my 6000xp when in closed loop comms mode.
I don't think it has anything o do with the inverter type their are connected to. I had my 6000xp replaced tried all the power cycling, firmware updates, etc., and the issue persists.
Ultimately I gave up and set up the system to run in Open loop mode (lead acid battery type) and it works flawlessly (I miss SoC a bit though)
Unless new firmware is issued for the battery BMS I am not going back to the Closed loop comms mode (Lithium 1 battery type)

Can you remind me if your batteries currently up to date with the latest firmware?
There hasn't been any new ones released at the moment for 280Ah Wallmount batteries.
I have updated my 280Ah indoor battery it to the most recent early June 2026 with Both RS232 and RS485 firmware downloaded from EG4 website.
