I’ve talked to the fine folks at Signature Solar and haven’t got an answer. I’m getting a hard handover from the generator shutdown when my 18K PV tells it charge voltage has been reached. I’m pretty sure the surge got my house well controller last night. Generator startup and the first connection are seamless milliseconds but shutdown is a total loss of power before the batteries take over. Thanks
Seems like so many issues using the Inverter generator connection, I just use the chargeverter. No issues and charges on voltage so balances out SOC

@Pawnee You may want to look over the following thread: 6000XP generator transfer after charging – Page 2 – General Troubleshooting – EG4 Community Forum
It applies to the 6000XP but is the same situation.
I have been hoping the EG4 might chime in on it but haven't heard yet. Fingers crossed.

@pawnee I was browsing the 18K manual and came across this:
regarding seamless switch. Didn't find much info on it, maybe the folks at SS could elucidate on it?
To mee it looks like maybe what you are looking for?? Not certain though, I do not run an 18K.... yet 🙂

Thanks I had missed that setting. I tried it but it didn’t help much. It’s a simple software issue if we could get the attention of the EG4 folks.

I’ve noticed that too. If the SS guys don’t know what to do you’re just out of luck. I’ve had a couple questions for EG4 and have emailed a few times but it’s crickets 🙁 I was encouraged when they started the forum and Jared did a good job for a while.
Good afternoon, Pawnee!
It's difficult to really give an accurate answer to the inquiry without gathering more information on your generator and historical station information.
However, the Signature Solar Technical team can help you determine why this may be occurring. If you would like to reach out to us at 903-441-2090 option 3, we'd be glad to assist!
@signaturesolarsupport It would be great to hear something on this as it is also an issue with the 6000xp. It is almost like when the gen gets the shutdown signal (contacts get opened), the inverter doesn't switch back to battery until the voltage from the gen drops below the AC input range. Hence a brown out or complete loss of power for a few milliseconds. I have ended up having to put UPS's on all of my electronic equipment.

Certainly! The details you provide to our tech will help us find the right solution for you! 🙂
ill call in later today. I’ve walked through the problem a couple times with you guys but no luck. Looks like others are having the same problem. That’s why I was hoping EG4 would chime in. I’m 99% sure it’s a software issue. Thanks
I apologize for the delayed response! Are you still having issues with the inverter and generator?
What generator are you using?
@eric I don't know what @pawnee is running but I have a 6000XP with a 14KW Kohler (14RCA).
I am not certain what the actual logic in the inverter does but to me it seems that it doesn't switch back to battery until the voltage from the gen drops low enough to cause a switch instead of switching immediately from gen supplying loads to battery supplying loads. I am probably wrong on that but that's what it seems like.
Batteries reach 100%
Gen Contacts open
Gen winds down and I get a brown out
Inverter then switches to battery.
Just my visual and auditory observation.
And just for reference I do have the AC Input Range set to UPS 170V to 280V
Thank you for checking on this.

my generator will run today and I’ll see if the new firmware makes the handoff better. Joel described it perfectly above. Brownout is a good description and like I said above I’m 99.9% sure it finally got my well controller the last time it did it. Well controller is around $1,400 so I’d like to get this resolved. Probably added a year to my payoff on my system. Thanks
Joel I have a 18kpv
