New to Forum today - GridBoss and FlexBoss21. Haven't used Smart Ports yet but because of recent power outages am looking into it. The recent power outages did a power off, power on, power off, power on, etc. for about 15 minutes in about 30 second - 3 minute intervals. Having Heat Pumps in our house doing that kind of on/off/on/off is not great for their components. I can't find anything in the documentation that supports adding a delay to the Smart Ports of something like 20 minutes before they reconnect post grid failure and then grid back on to help wait for grid stable before restarting Heat Pumps. Any ideas?
Welcome to the Forum!
I’m not aware of any option to add a delay. However, when the grid goes down, you can enable Off-Grid Mode and configure the system to operate off-grid. This will allow you to power your loads without relying on the utility. Once the grid is restored, you can disable Off-Grid Mode and return the system to normal operation. This assumes the heat pumps are connected to your backup loads.
Thank you for the idea and I think that would work however like everything in life these power outages flopping on and off aren't planned and seem to have the unfortunate luck of having them in the middle of the night while asleep. I was thinking somehow that putting the heat pumps on a smart port might at least somehow delay the reconnect to grid in an automatic, and me still asleep not knowing, way.
BTW it did wake me up at 2 am this time because of some non-backed up loads so that is how I know it was about less than 20 minutes total flopping. Is there any scripting capability on the GridBoss and FlexBoss combo to automatically switch to Off-Grid mode during a grid failure specifically something that has logic to test grid available, wait for X time, and revert back to On-Grid mode?
Thanks.
