I have an 18Kpv and PowerPro Wallmount (I have solar, but it is currently turned off) I just had installed. In standby mode the 18Kpv shows 410w grid and 410w Consumption Power.  This is reasonable comparing to the readings from my power company.

I have two scenarios that make no sense:

1) When I take it out of standby mode (into self consumption) the grid power stays (substantially) the same, but the battery draw and Consumption Power skyrocket to > 9600W each.  Since my loads have not changed, I cannot figure out where the extra 9500 watts are going.  I am not selling back to the grid, it is just drawing more power and draining my battery.

2) When I click on the Start Quick Charge button, the grid power stays (substantially) the same, while my Consumption Power drops to zero and my battery charges at the maximum rate.  Again my loads have not changed, in fact I am typing on a computer powered through the 18Kpv, so I know power (more than 0 watts)  is making it to the house.  Additionally, the grid is charging my battery at a substantial rate far exceeding the few hundred watts displayed for the grid power.

I am unsure how these readings make any sense and am hopeful someone here can help me sort it out.

Thank you!

Well, looks like I found my problem!  Yay!

It was as simple as the CTs installed on the Load lines not the Grid lines!

Wow, I cannot believe the installer did that!  It seems to be working now at least it makes sense.

I am still trying to figure out why on grid, my home pull 200 W less than when it is pulling from the battery.  I can understand why more power is pulled from the battery due to losses etc.  But shouldn't the consumption power stay the same?

Thanks for reading and I hope this helps someone else. 🙂

Maybe conversion from dc to ac efficiency loss?

I'm glad to hear you were able to resolve the CT issue.

As Ron mentioned, the 18kPV has a battery discharging efficiency of 94%, meaning it will draw more energy from the battery to power loads compared to the grid.

Thank you both for chiming in.  So the Label "Consumption Power" is the total power consumed by my home + the inverter inefficiency. This would make sense.

Is there anywhere I can find the Actual Load Power consumed, other than manually using  math? 😉 Maybe that could be another line next to the Consumption Power icon to make it clear. 🙂
