Our off-the-grid house has an EG4 12kPV inverter and I would like to control when the generator runs (ideally after solar production is done for the day and, if needed, before bedtime). I see that the AC Charge settings incude "

But I have seen hints that such a thing might be available. A support guy recently told me on the phone that he did see such a setting in his version and he speculated that maybe he had a higher level of access?? Also I saw in the release notes for firmware update EG4_FAAB-2021 that it included "2. Add two-time settings to the generator startup setting."

I also hoped that the Weather Optimize feature might give me the flexibility I need, but that apparently that doesn't apply to the Generator Charge function.

Can anyone shed light on this? My wife would be much happier if the generator never came on in the middle of the night. Thanks!

If the grid isn't connected to the inverter, you can connect the generator to the grid port and enable Micro-Grid mode to prevent it from feeding power back to the generator. After that, you can enable and configure AC Charging times to allow the generator to charge the batteries.

Thanks for this.

Will the inverter be able to auto-start the generator using the 2 wire start in this configuration?

And in case it's pertinent, we are curently using two chargeverters between the generator and the the batteries.

Yes, the 2 wore Start/Stop will work when Micro-Grid is enabled.
