I have 4 wall mount batteries and 2 FB21 inverters. Page 25 of the battery manuals show this in a symmetric configuration, battery-battery& inverter-battery&inverter - battery. I want to know if it matters if I have the inverters over the left two batteries connecting to the batteries directly under them making the left most set the main battery and inverter?  So battery&inverter-battery& inverter-battery-battery. Will it cause problems with the far battery or with the first/ inverter?

unless you have your inverters running different/isolated sub-panels I would think the way to do it would be to combine all batteries to a bus bar or something and then bring cables off the bus bar( equal lengths for every cable ) up to the inverters.  Setup like this then all your batteries are working together and used together, likewise your inverters pull from the same battery "bank".

Not a "solar" expert, just an old software and hardware engineer.

As long as your wiring matches the configuration shown in the manual, you can place the batteries wherever you prefer. However, the ideal setup is the one recommended in the manual.
