Helping a friend out.

He has an older Xantrax 24V system and his lead acid batteries died; he is replacing them with EG4 LL 24V batteries.

He has purchased 4 new batteries and will connect them to busbars and then to system.

I have a few questions:

1 - Recommended charge setting?

Bulk - ?

Absorb - ?

Float - ?

Equalize - Disable if possible or set to what

2 - Recommended gen start stop setting for 20% to 100% charges.

3 - BMS coms.  I understand that the Xantrax will not allow closed loop, but if comms is set up between each battery themselves will they regulate between themselves for balancing?  Or just leaves the comms out of the scenario.

Great appreciate any help on this.

I found the Bulk/Absorption, Float, and Low DC Cut-Off in the image below.

However, regarding communication, if you're unable to set the system to one of the protocols supported by the EG4 batteries, it's best to leave the communication out of the configuration. Connecting the batteries together won’t have any effect unless they are actively communicating with the inverter.

Thank you.

Would you happen to have any idea as to what to set start and end voltages for a gen start would be?

Tanks,

JB

I don't know for sure, but if I were to guess, I would say something like

Start:23.5V-24V
Stop:28V (if you want full batteries, if not, you can set it lower.)

And set the cut-off to 22.5V.
