My EG4 system, which is made up of the EG4 12kPV Hybrid Inverter and EG4-WallMount Indoor Battery, is in backup mode.  It was installed in September of 2024. The average energy usage daily for ?? charging ?? is 1.4kWh. That is about 511kWh per year. Almost as much as my fridge.  I watch the dash putting energy into the battery every day. Like this:

Not sure it relates but I do have one cell of the battery lower then the others. Cell 12 is 3.477, all others are between 3.514 and 3.516.

In backup mode wouldn't it charge to 100% and just stay there? Any ideas if something is perhaps wrong?  A setting I can change to fix this?

Thanks for any ideas you may have.

You can change the Battery Type to Lead Acid and set the Bulk charge/Absorb to 56.4 so all the battery cells can charge and balance out.

How often do you discharge the battery to 20%?

Seems odd that you would need to trick the system by changing it to Lead Acid. My battery and inverter communicate. Then there is the BMS which seems like it should handle balancing.

As for discharging to 20%. Not sure that has ever happened. Sounds like your saying it should.  I can make that happen just by pulling AC power for a while.

It is recommended to discharge the batteries to 20% at least a few times a month. I've attached a document explaining why this is recommended for EG4 batteries.

@eric Thank you for your help.  I think you may have attached the wrong document?  This document seems to be about why you should only do a 80% DOD for battery life and doesn't mention discharging to 20% a few times per month for any reason.  I will take your advise and discharge the system at my earliest opportunity.  I suspect there is an easy way to do this such as pushing the energy to the grid by temporarily changing some setting. I'll look further into this but if you have tips, I will take them. Thanks again.

@donnie255 I apologize for the confusion. Doing this a few times a month is a recommendation. If you would like to do it every day that is okay as well. Most people don't do it often that is why I recommend at least few times a month. It helps with keeping cells balanced.
