The inverter is up and running, seeing AC Coupled solar input, basically sees everything but the battery.  I have tried setting Brand to 0 and 1.  Inverter is on latest firmware.

Since the battery has never communicated with the inverter I went to update the firmware on the inverter and I'm worried it is bricked.  I turned the battery off, plugged the rs232 cable into one of the battery-comm ports, plugged in the USB, set the dip's to all "on", and powered on the battery.  It went into a boot loop 10-15 times and then didn't boot up at all.  No matter what cables, dip settings, anything, it won't power on.

This is beyond frustrating.

I’m sorry you’re experiencing this issue. Does the battery screen turn on, but the battery fails to fully boot up? Or does it not turn on at all?

@eric The battery screen doesn't light up at all.  Neither do the bars indicating charge.

Does your laptop recognize the port? If it does, try to continue the update.
