Hello!

Recently installed the following:

Inverter: EG4 18kpv

Bats: 2x EG4 PowerPro

Charger: Evocharge 50 Home set to 32 amps with a 50 amp breaker on its own circuit

Car: Tesla Model Y

Im having issues with intermediate faulting of the evocharger 50 Home using PV power and batteries. Evocharge sent a new one and I swapped it but no fix. I successfully charged on other non-tesla level 2 chargers at other homes no problem, Tesla has shown no issue charging. I isolated my PV power & batteries and had no problem charging from pure grid power.

Anyone experience this issue? Any fixes?

Could it be interference? Voltage spikes or drops when the PV changes?

Another issue I’m currently dealing with tech 2s from signature solar in contact with a EG4 engineer is I can’t get my WiFi dongles 3rd INV light to light. The WiFi and Cloud is fine but no INV light. Tried everything under the sun 10s of times in every form. Since I can’t get the dongle to connect to the inverter light I can’t update the firmware.

Could a lack of a firmware update be causing the inverter to have inconsistent signals or voltages (I’m not versed in electrical lingo so look past my ignorance), that is causing the EV charger to throw faults?

thanks,

Rob

For the dongle, you can try pressing and holding the button on the bottom of the dongle for about 5 seconds. This should restart it. If that doesn't resolve the issue, please follow the steps I've included in the screenshot below.

If you've already tried these steps and it's still not working, please provide the dongle's serial number and I can attempt to add the dongle directly to your inverter manually on my end.

Hey Eric,

Restarted button, same thing solid WiFi, solid cloud, blinking INV.

Signature Solar Techs say the dongle is connected on their ends but the INV light is just not coming solid.

I've followed those steps provided at least 30 times by now with 2 different dongles. Still no INV light but successful WiFi and cloud connection.

It shows offline on my end. Are you able to share the inverter's serial number?
I should be able to add it to the dongle. If not, I can send you a replacement dongle.

Thanks Eric.

Ive been sent a 2nd dongle already with the same issues.

FYI, a T2 tech from signature solar is working with someone from EG4 right now trying to resolve the same issue.

I’ve been trying everything on my end to figure it out also which is why I came here to see if anyone had similar issues or establish a post for others who may in the future.

But if you could see out adding it on your end again and exhausting your capabilities I would appreciate that also.

After further investigation, it appears the device is not connecting to the cloud. Could you confirm if the dongle is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network? Also, please ensure there are no special characters in your Wi-Fi password, as this can sometimes cause connection issues.

If possible, please share a screenshot of the dongle parameters. That will help me verify whether it’s attempting to connect to the correct server.

The router is a dual band with 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz.

There are no special characters in the password.

Here are pics of the parameter lists…

Let me know if the two screen shots I sent you verify the information you needed.

The routers 2.4ghz frequency is on and working.

Everything looks correct on the screenshots. Can you separate the 2.4GHz network?
This will help avoid any issues with the connection.

Called my internet provider to help me create a dedicated 2.4ghz network.

Removed dongle, connected, added it to the dedicated 2.4ghz…

Same result, solids WiFi light, solid cloud, blinking INV.

OK! Big updates.

I called my internet provider to make the 2.4ghz dedicated network.

Connected to that same issues, WiFi solid, cloud solid, blinking INV.

Then, my neighbor has the exact same setup as I do, I copied him, 18kPV inverter and 2x powerpro batteries. We know that his network and router works with his system so asked him if I could try connecting to his network.

Connected to his, same issues.

We used his phone and account to add the dongle, same issues.

We used my buddies android instead of my iPhone and my neighbors iPhone, same issue.

Exhausted all possible angles I could think of and all manual, forum or suggestions. That damn inverter light is just stubborn.

Eric could you follow up to see if there are any updates to my ticket. Since responding last week I haven't seen what some next steps might be.

Appreciate you,

Rob
