The parallel setting was an issue, I had found the 'sync inverter' button that fixed the displays. I assumed it only applied with multiple inverters but makes sense now. For backup I have that disabled. Could the conflict be from another mode?

I might have it. I had a mode DIABLED but had left the time set from 00:00 to 22:00. When I set both too 00:00 self consumption started.

One last question. In self-consumption mode with solar, when there is excess power generated and the battery is full - does the extra go to the utility grid - I do see 'sell to grid' options but does that have to be set for excess? Or is it set if selling back is the desired mode (it is not for us). Thanks Eric.
