I am setting up my first eq4-3k, and the included dongle uses the SmartESS app v 3.32.4.2 .... what I see on the App does not match what is in the eg4-3k documentation very well, and I have been unable to configure to Monitor by "local access", BLE, or wi-fi.

Is there a decent step-by-step available anywhere?

or, a youtube?

{solved}

turns out that the paper manual v 1.3.0 was terrible, but the online v 1.3.2 is better, and I was able to get wi-fi monitoring working. https://eg4electronics.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/EG4-3000EHV-48-V2-Manual.pdf&source=gmail&ust=1740156506058000&usg=AOvVaw2TZ2IxXa80VI1x8kZnPNC u"> https://eg4electronics.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/EG4-3000EHV-48-V2-Manual.pdf

Note: this unit does NOT support BLE or local access, so its not really much good if you don't have wifi available.

I apologize for any confusion, but I'm glad you were able to get it connected.

something is wrong again. I  just installed another 3000, and CANNOT get the dongle configured.

- I have updated to SmartESS app v3.40.1.0

- I can "see" and connect to the dongle on phone wifi, but cannot see it in BT

- I have an account set up in SmartESS, and can login to my existing account when connected to home wifi, but when I try to +add the new device, I can't because it is never found by BT scan, and can't be added by wifi as far as I can tell in the App

You can try following the instructions in the manual starting on page 72

@eg4eric tried that.... the app seems to look for the PlugPro-05 with BT, and never finds it, so I am stuck with no way to teach the dongle what the home wifi/password is.

You need to be connected to the dongle's network first so the app can find it.

I'm attaching a video that could help. You can start the video in minute 2:00

Although this is not an EG4 video, the process is very similar.

@eg4eric I finally got the dongle to connect w the home wifi,,,,,

BUT, now I cannot "add device" to my pre-existing SmartESS account. I had installed another client with an eg4-3000, and finally got it reporting about a year ago, so I'd like to leave that in my account. Is it possible that the SmartESS really can only be set up to monitor ONE site ? perhaps I need to delete my user account, the old device, and "register" new from scratch ?

You’ll need to create a new account. If you were running multiple units in parallel, they could be added to the same account. However, if this is an entirely different system, a new account is required.

@eg4eric , AHA! so this is a big problem for someone like me who is actually an installer and would like to look at multiple units at different physical addresses, networks, accounts.

But, I suppose I can create a dedicated gmail account for each site, which forwards to my "real account" I will give this a try.

I would suggest to your support team, and user documentation that you clarify that you need a unique email account for each unique physical site if you want to be able to monitor different sites at the same time.
