I’m helping my brother finish a small off-grid cabin setup and we’ve been going back and forth between the 6000XP and a smaller inverter setup.

Main loads are:

  • 240v well pump
  • 12k BTU mini split
  • Starlink
  • lights/outlets
  • small chest freezer

The thing I’m still trying to figure out is startup surge handling on the well pump. On paper the EG4 6000XP looks like it should handle it fine, but I’ve seen mixed comments online from people using older pressure tanks and hard-start compressors.

Battery bank is currently:
48v / 280Ah LiFePO4

Solar array will probably end up around:
5200–6000w

I was originally looking at the unit specs here:
https://offgridstores.com/products/eg4-6000xp-48v-split-phase-off-grid-inverter?_pos=3&_sid=a0cd34ce8&_ss=r

Mostly because it had the wiring diagrams and split-phase details easier to read than some of the reseller pages.

Curious if anyone here is already running this inverter with a similar setup, especially with motor loads. Any issues with surge trips or generator integration?

Trying to avoid undersizing this system and regretting it later.

It really depends on the Surge of the compressors. The 6000XP can handle up to 12kW for about 3.5 seconds and 11kW for about 5 seconds. I believe you can also install a soft start to help with the surge.
